To infinity and beyond!

On our way out of Toulouse on the Saturday we paid a visit to the Cite de l’Espace, a vast space park including 2 planetariums, interactive exhibits relating to space exploration, the Terradome ‘film experience’ on the history of the earth, a new Imax cinema and a lifesize replica of the Ariane 5 rocket – all stuff I would’ve revelled in when I was a kid planning to be the first woman on the moon.

There were so many satellites, (real and to scale) cut away bits and pieces that showed how they work, working models, interactive controls, machines, and so much information it was quite mind-boggling. You could certainly spend ages there and still go back for more. For us more advanced astronauts though, the semi-darkness of much of the setting made it a bit hard to see at times and also slightly disorienting… a bit lost in space? (Probably just the ordinary multifocals instead of the stratospherical lenses was the problem.)

Anyway, we toddled off, had a bit of a picnic lunch in the park next door and headed for Puy L’Eveque – yet again at the mercy of Garmin who Tina’s decided should only be used when exploring outback Australia.
